Quality + environment
We are proudly certified ISO 9001 and 14001 to keep our quality and environment management at the highest levels.
Environmental policy
The protection and control of Studer’s impact on the environment is an integral part of our values. The ISO 14001 certification is the visible proof of this commitment. The company takes into account the various regulations and applicable environmental laws. Each activity of the company is analyzed according to the different possible impacts. The points identified are regularly reviewed in order to assess the reasonably possible reduction of these impacts and an action plan is put in place.
Electrical consumption is a preponderant aspect to which particular attention is paid. Thus, since 2017, all the electrical energy consumed comes from renewable sources. Each waste is systematically sorted and inserted into the planned recycling sector. Everyone, according to their activity, is made aware of the possible environmental effects. The Valais-Excellence certification validates the choice of proximity when possible, thus further reducing the ecological footprint.
Quality policy
Our quality policy applies to all our activities and aims in particular to:
- Meet the applicable requirements according to ISO 9001
- Preparing for the future by proactive and systematic listening to customers, monitoring appropriate technology and constant innovation at all levels of the company.
- Guaranteeing the efficiency of the daily activities by controlling processes, competitive quality and first-rate costs.
- Maintaining an omnipresent continuous improvement in the operational as well as in the strategic levels.
- Provide targeted service for each client with short and reliable lead times.
- Integrate economic, ecological and social aspects into our quality requirements, followed by a sustainable development approach.
- Meet the local sustainable development requirements of the Canton of Valais regulated by the “Valais Excellence” certification.
- Make satisfaction a natural and daily reflex in everyone’s mind.
- Engaging staff through communication, training and recognition.
We are proud members of…
Towards a portfolio of 1000 labelled solutions
To address environmental challenges while enabling economic growth, Bertrand Piccard has launched, through the Solar Impulse Foundation, the challenge of selecting 1000 profitable solutions to protect the environment in order to convince decision-makers in governments and businesses to achieve their environmental targets and adopt more ambitious energy policies, which are necessary to pull these solutions to market.
The aim: to accelerate the transition to a carbon-free and sustainable economy.
Our solution, Studer energy access systems, has been awarded the label
A label focused on both the environment and profitability
The first label to assess the economic profitability of products or processes that protect the environment. The Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label is attributed following a strict selection process performed by external independent experts. By ensuring high standards of sustainability and profitability, this internationally recognized label is considered as a recognition for innovators and as a credible marker of quality for solution seekers in business and governments, facilitating their sourcing of solutions to reach environmental commitments.
Boosting the adoption of profitable solutions to protect the environment
The Solar Impulse Foundation aims to identify clean, efficient and profitable solutions in order to accelerate their implementation and the transition to a sustainable economy. Thanks to the awarding of a label with high standards of sustainability and profitability, the Foundation can support political and economic decision-makers in their efforts to achieve their environmental targets and encourage them to adopt more ambitious energy regulations, necessary for the implementation at large-scale of these solutions on the market.
A way to take the success of the first round-the-world solar flight further.
Decades of local anchoring
We have been developing, manufacturing and testing our products in Sion (Valais region), in the heart of the Swiss Alps, ever since 1987. We therefore wanted to show that we belong to this magnificent region by joining the “Valais Excellence” label.
This certification was created to reward those Valais-based companies that stand out because of their social and environmental performance, while continuously improving their products and services.
Quality assurance for our partners
For Studer’s partners, the label is evidence that our company
- is based in the Valais
- holds ISO 9001 certification for quality and ISO 14001 for the environment
- is committed to the Valais and its inhabitants
In order to be eligible, we had to meet a number of criteria relating to governance, as well as societal, environmental and human aspects. Our internal processes were analysed, in particular those involving the development of our products, our facilities and our relations with local partners.
We were really keen to have a positive influence on the Valais ecosystem, which has allowed us to develop over time.
We are members of the Swissolar association, which aims to contribute to a secure, renewable and resource-conserving energy supply for Switzerland by 2050 at the latest.
Our actions to preserve our planet
The autarky factory
The autarCity project
The autarCity project, set up jointly by the City of Sion and the local DSO Oiken allows the Studer building to produce more electricity than it consumes.
1000 m2 of solar panels have been installed on the roof of the building, and of course, some of our new inverters, the next3 with batteries.
Charging terminals
Three electric charging terminals have already been installed in the company’s car park and to promote the decarbonisation of employees’ journeys, more charging points will be installed soon.
Recycling
SENS eRecycling
For more than 30 years, SENS eRecycling has been the expert for the sustainable disposal of used electrical and electronic equipment.
Studer is recognised as a certified contract partner.
Inobat
Many systems now contain a battery (lead or lithium). The issue of recycling these batteries is therefore important and must be tackled.
Swiss law obliges all battery users to pay the recycling tax, so we pay this tax via the company Inobat for all batteries imported and sold in Switzerland.
WEEE
All goods sent to Germany are also subject to a tax. In this case it is the weight that determines the amount of the tax. Each month, this tax is declared via the company Take-e-way.
In 2024, almost 15 tons of goods were sent to Germany.
Engo
Engo, the solar charity, is an association with the mission to improve the lives of 10 Million people by the end of 2027 by providing stable and green power supply to hospitals, schools and orphanages in Sub-Saharan Africa. By installing Solar Systems and connecting them with medical devices, lighting equipment and other necessary appliances. Each project can be funded directly by donors with the committment of 100% of the donation dedicated towards the project implementation. We support Engo and we wish them a great success with a lot of impactful solar projects improving health, education and childhood services in Africa.
Electricians Without Borders – Switzerland
Studer collaborates with this association by providing electronic equipment for different solar projects.
Electriciens sans frontières – Switzerland aims to provide access to electricity for the most disadvantaged populations.
Digitalisation
Archives
Paper consumption used to be very high in the company. In the interests of both the economy and the environment, digitalisation has quickly made its way into the thinking of our employees in administration, management and production.
Practically no document is printed anymore. Everything is recorded digitally so that everyone can access it no matter where they were. Until 2019, our archives filled the shelves with between 80 and 100 binders per year. In 2024, we only had about ten.
We also ask our suppliers and other partners to send us as many documents as possible (invoices, technical documentation, advertising flyers, etc.) by email. Only official or essential documents are then printed.
This saves space and money of course but, above all, has a much lower ecological impact.
Manuals and quick guides are available online.
We care about the environment and studer is following the trend. Among the various measures that have been in place for several years now, we are moving towards maximum digitalisation.
In addition to printing only strictly necessary administrative documents, we have decided to stop printing hard copy user manuals. Only a quick guide is sent to our customers. It contains a QR code that allows them to download the manual directly from home and to consult it easily from a tablet, computer or smartphone.
In the past, the manuals were systematically printed and sent out in four languages. That was a very large amount of paper. Thanks to digitalisation, we save a lot of ink, paper and especially waste.
All technical documents for our devices can be found on our website under the download section and are available at any time. And our support team is always on hand to respond to requests as quickly as possible.
The water of Sion
The water of Sion a safe and sustainable source
Always with the desire to protect our planet and preserve the environment, our company goes even further. A water fountain has been provided for all employees to limit as much as possible the consumption of bottled water (glass or PET). But this is not the traditional water cooler that requires delivery, transportation and disposal of refills. Our water fountain is connected directly to the city’s drinking water network. So studer and its visitors drink fresh and sparkling SION WATER! Cheers!
The beautiful carafes of Sion water are used at all meetings and conferences held on our premises, and each employee has been given a glass “autarky bottle” that can be reused indefinitely.
The City of Sion, located in the heart of the Alps, benefits from an incredible supply of drinking water. It would be a shame not to take advantage of it. Its quality is impeccable and is constantly monitored.
