Cover your parking lot with solar panels, shades and protect your car from sun, rain, or snow while securing clean energy to your home
Electricity has become notoriously scarce in Lebanon since an economic crisis began ravaging the country in 2019, with the country suffering frequent blackouts and many households and businesses relying on private diesel generators. The great country solar potential opens a door for reliable solar installations to secure the energy supply.
In this case, ME green has installed this solar carport in a residence in Byblos to add more solar power to the building and gain more autonomy. The xtender backup system uses solar energy as priority and keeps the batteries charged. During power outages, the xtenders switch to grid-forming mode automatically, within a short period of maximum 15ms, generating the grid and delivering electricity to the building from the energy stored in the batteries.
The integrated transfer relay will transfer automatically to grid-following mode when the grid is back and within the safe voltage and frequency ranges. The system switches then to battery priority mode again, using solar energy in priority and charging the batteries for the next power cut.
The 2 auxiliary contacts in each of the xtender installed allow for critical load management, automatically shedding non-critical loads during a blackout and when battery capacity is low.
These tailored carports can be designed according to the client’s requirements. In this case, the system is composed of top tier jinko solar panels for 9.3kWp solar array (scalable) connected to a variostring vs120 with 2 MPPT for a convenient east-west orientation. The xtender xth 8000-48 inverter provides 32A continuously and 37A during 30min (and up to 80A when connected to the AC source). The autonomy relies on 24 Sunlight RES 8 SOPzS 1380 lead-acid batteries for a total of 48kWh storage at C10.
This PV and storage system is a win-win solution in keeping the power generating costs down while maximizing its green benefits.
